Full Point on TV
Last Saturday afternoon, the pilot episode of Full Point: The Cebu Sports Show started airing over Wealth TV channel 28 on SkyCable TV Cebu.
Wealth TV leases a channel of SkyCable TV and is focused mainly on financial education, but has slowly started airing programs to diversify the content.
My involvement in Wealth TV started from it was merely a dream of Joen de las Peñas several years ago. I saw it become a reality and was actively involved when it started.
Through the years, I have also thought of starting a sports program for TV. Since I left GMA-7 Cebu in early 1996, I have covered many sports events for TV as a sportscaster switching from being anchor to doing color commentary.
Having my own TV magazine show was a dream that I hoped to see happen and got a few offers from other cable-based channels, but never really went beyond having the concept.
A few months ago, I bumped into Joen thrice in a span of two weeks, which was kind of really frequent considering that he flies in and out of Cebu due to his very busy schedule. The last of those meetings was when we were retrieving our bags from the airport conveyor in Mactan.
Then I met the creative director, Nath Ybañez and there was no stopping from then on.
Nath helped get the production started and Christine Belle Zabala also made many things happen to put the show together helping me with writing the script and making sense out of all the ideas that were presented.
The pilot is about the grassroots development program of Cebu City. The all out effort to push sports in the barangays last school break, inspired me to make it as the initial topic of the show.
We’re working on the second episode, which means the pilot will be running for about two weeks.
Airing schedule is at 12 midnight, 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
You can only watch if you have a subscription on SkyCable TV Cebu, but we’re also looking for ways to get the show on the Internet for those from outside Cebu.
The show is basically this column in a television version. It is more graphic and we’ve also included a mini segment called Sports 101, which helps educate the readers about some terminologies that we use in the show.
There is still so much to improve with the show and your comments and suggestions are definitely most welcome.
