Mangusong steals show in 7th leg of MS Motosuit motocross

CEBU, Philippines - Early favorites fumbled as the visiting Bornoc Mangusong made his trip to the Queen City of the South worthwhile by claiming not just one but two titles in the seventh leg of the 2011 MS Motosuit Motocross Series dubbed as the "Mayor Aljun Diamante Motocross Challenge" last Monday in the municipality of Tuburan.

Mangusong ruled the pro and expert open categories in one of the toughest legs in this series, so far.

Mangusong outsmarted Ted Conde and Kimboy Pineda for the top spot in the expert division.

Even Cebu’s top rider Jon-Jon Adlawan fell short in his bid and settled for only second to Mangusong in the pro class.

Kimboy Pineda ended with two third place finish after trailing Adlawan in the pro action.

Pepo Rubi, on the other hand, lorded it over in the intermediate class. Paulo Inoc wound up second followed by the crowd-darling John Flores.

Donkey Sanchez and BJ Pepito grabbed a pair of championship trophies plus a runner-up finish each.

Sanchez dominated the open enduro after edging out Ray Querol and Ayen Ledesma. He also topped the underbone race after defeating Julius Cabrera and Clinton Gualiza.         

Sanchez, however, failed to score a treble as he only landed third in the novice open production won by the little-known Mark Ganob.

Pepito, for his part, reigned supreme in the peewee 50 cc and 65 cc, but placed only third in 85 cc ruled by Jougee Basco.

Nonoy Reluya hit the victory note upon his return via the executive B where he outclassed Alerferez Lagrada and Jun Enriquez.

Joe Root came out the fastest in executive A followed by Roscel Gungob and Jun Enriquez, while the executive C plum went to Butch Flores, with Gerry Sicad and Lagrada occupying the next two spots.

Ayan Bontuyan ruled the local enduro category, while Ryan Paghasian snatched the beginners open production crown. – (FREEMAN)
