CEBU, Philippines - The DYAR 765 Sonshine Radio will be having its 1st Cebu Sonshine Run on July 3 at the Terraces grounds of Ayala Center-Cebu.
Held in line with the fifth anniversary celebration of DYAR (formerly Angel Radio of NBC) which is now under Swara Sug Media Corporation, the event aims to raise funds that will be donated to the Children's Joy Foundation in support of its noble cause to feed clothe, house and send to school poo and destitute, malnourished children.
"Dahil sa running boom dito sa Cebu, nakita namin tong kaparaanan na matulungan ang mga bata na nangangailangan. Also, organizing a fun run is suitable for our radio station that is always campaigning to our listeners for a healthy living," said DYAR 765 Sonshine Radio station manager Cherry A. Ilaw during a press conference yesterday at Golden Cowrie restaurant.
The race features the 3K, 6K and 12K categories.
The 3K run is for runners 12 years old and below although fun runners who are above the specified age can still join in this division.
DYAR’s William Valencia is expecting over 1,000 runners to participate including different running clubs and employees from big companies led by the MEPZ locators.
Mary Joy Tabal, Cebu’s most dominant female runner today, and her training partner Phillip Dueñas led the cast of early registrants.
A total of P30,000 in cash prizes are at stake for the top finishers run plus Timex watches and a specially-designed medals courtesy of Suarez and Sons.
Registration fee is pegged at P350 for the 12K and P250 for the 3K and 6K.
