Bautista to spar at SM City today

CEBU, Philippines - With one week to go before what is expected to be an emotionally charged rematch against his former conqueror Heriberto Ruiz, ALA stalwart Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista is scheduled to appear in a public workout this 5 p.m. at the SM City Cebu Event Center.

The Bautista-Ruiz showdown will be headlining the sixth installment of the Pinoy Pride series this June 11 dubbed as “Grudge Rematch” at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

Aside from his desire for redemption against his former tormentor, Bautista’s added inspiration to win is the vacant IBF International featherweight title.

Joining the Boholano boxing star will be ALA Promotions stable mates WBO Youth Asia Pacific Light Welterweight Champion Jason Pagara and Ex WBC Silver Flyweight Champ Edrin “The Sting” Dapudong.

 Pagara is scheduled to face another Mexican, Juan Carlos Gallegos in the undercard, while Dapudong is scheduled to fight Benja “The Rhinoceros” Loemoli of Indonesia.

The Filipino fighters will be doing some of their training exercises in front of boxing fans at the mall and will be doing photo sessions with boxing fans.  (FREEMAN)
