Dy's ace highlights start of View
CEBU, Philippines - Henry Dy aced the 175-yard hold number 2 yesterday to highlight the opening round of The View Invitational 2011 at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club.
As of 5 p.m. yesterday, the tandem of Marlo Cugtas and Jose Mari ‘Bopyet’ Dizon has set the pace in the four-day tournament with a score of 70 points.
This member-guest tournament is the signature event of AVGCC. The Modified Stableford Scoring System is used and players are allowed to use only three-fourths of their lowest handicap for the last three months.
Dy, who is the partner of Rudy Carvajal, pulled out his old driver with a loft of 11 degrees and knocked in his punched tee shot on the downhill 2nd hole. He used a Precept 33 ball for the feat.
Aside from Carvajal, the shot was also witnessed by Mar Selma and his partner Rodin Paca.
Dy told The Freeman that his tee shot landed before the green and the ball rolled from right to left into the cup.
It was his second ace.
For this feat he wins a motorcycle from Norkis Trading Corp. as well as P300,000 of first bet coupons from Pagcor-Cebu and another P100,000 of first bet coupons from Pagcor-Mactan.
