Velasquez, Lapasaran win caddies golfest

CEBU, Philippines - Arsenio Velasquez and Divina Lapasaran shared the top honors in the recently held 1st Victor Uy Memorial Caddies Golf Tournament at the Cebu Country Club.

The two scored the lowest gross honors for the men’s and women’s division.

Velasquez fired 79 strokes and beat Mario Matig-a, Allen Arinque, Elano Alfeche, and Joel Anes in the countback.

Lapasaran had a net 92 strokes in the distaff side.

The lowest net honors for the men went to Allen Arinque with 73 strokes.

In the pro and semi-pro division, Elano Alfeche won top honors with his net 73 edging five others in the countback. Runner-up honors went to Joel Anes also with a net 73.

The class A title went to Rey Bunsucan with a net score of 74 followed by Concordio Cañete Jr. with a net 75 and Eugene Manapao also with a net 75 on second and third place, respectively.

Lindo Dignos topped class B with a net 75 followed by Ernesto Pila on second with 77 and at third was Ireneo Lucenara also with 77.

The senior title went to Vando Montes with 73 followed by Alfredo Miñoza on second also with 73 and at third was Willy Lagason.

The lowest net honors for the ladies category went to Marestela Borres with 81 strokes edging Anabelle Jabonillo in the countback.

The class A title went to Jabonillo with 81 strokes followed by May Panong with 82 and Rosenie Gayoba with 83.

Corazon Cabibil topped class B with 87 followed by Cherry Arco with 88 and Vanjie Tajos with 90.

Felipa Opone won the class C crown with 103 while Carmelita Miñoza was the first runner-up also with 103. Third place went to Josephine Gabiana with 105. — NLQ (THE FREEMAN)
