Lawn and soft Tennis
In lawn tennis, Israel Abarquez was the lone Cebuano netter who made it to the finals as the rest failed.
Abarquez upset PHLTeam member Juvan Divinagracia in the semifinals yesterday.
Cebu’s top junior netter Sally Mae Siso and her sister Sallydine lost to Marian Capadocia and Tamitha Nguyen, 6-3, 6-0, in the women’s doubles.
The Siso siblings, however, hope to go home with a medal in their first venture in soft tennis.
Sallydine secured a ticket to the main draw of the women’s open with a 2-1 win-loss record. She bowed to Cheryl Macasera but prevailed over Pauline Cacpit and Janine Mallari.
Sally Mae fell prey to Erdilyn Peralta and Bien Zoleta, but has something to brag about after she beat PHL Team member Josephine Arevalo. (FREEMAN)
