MTI scores anew in Inter-Club football

- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -

CEBU, Philippines - Defending boys 14-under champion Mandaue Technical Institute coasted to its second straight victory in as many starts in the 11th National Inter-Club Football Cup yesterday at the San Roque Parish Church field in Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

MTI claimed Maria Montessori as its latest victim via a 6-1 thrashing to jack up its title retention campaign.

In the same category, Abellana National School-Pomeroy fought to a scoreless draw with Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu.

MTI's boys 17 counterparts, however, were not as lucky after losing to SHS-Ateneo de Cebu.

In the 40-above class, Queen City United-A beat sister-team QCU-B, 2-1, while Hiroshi FC demolished last year’s runner-up ERCO, 7-0.

QCU’s girls 17 squad, on the other hand, failed to meet expectations as it fell prey to the University of San Carlos-Technological Center (USC-TC), 3-0.

At PAREF-Springdale field in Brgy. Lahug, Canduman bounced back from an opening day setback and vented its wrath on Villa del Rio 2, 3-0, in the boys 12 division.

SHS-Ateneo de Cebu opened its bid in the boys 12 with a 7-0 whitewash of USC-North Campus, which also suffered a 0-5 beating from Danao Football Club earlier in the day.

In the players 10, the match between Danao FC and Count FC ended in a 2-all draw.

Over at the USC-TC field, Hiroshi FC posted a 2-0 victory over USC-TC.— (FREEMAN)
