CEBU, Philippines - Mary Joy Tabal further cemented her status as Cebu's newest "Queen of the Road", while Kenyan Josphat Too stole the show in the men's 15K division during the Three Sixty Pharmacy-organized “One Thousand Cranes Run” yesterday starting and ending at the Asiatown I.T. Park in Brgy. Apas, this city.
Tabal topped the women's 15K in convincing fashion with the time of one hour and one minute. Christy Sevilleno-Tutor was a far second in 1:01.06 followed by Madelyn Carter in 1:12.27. The next two spots were occupied by Mayumi Tono (1:27.45) and Rhia Tapas (1:29.14).
In the men's side, Too frustrated the local footracers after crossing the finish line first in 52 minutes and 25 seconds. Arnold Unabia came in second with the time of 53 minutes and 21 seconds followed by Phillip Duenas in 54:31.
Adonis Singson (56:54) and Leo Abello (1:07.27) wound up fourth and fifth, respectively.
The champion in both divisions pocketed P10,000, while the second and third received P7,000 and P5,000.
In the men's 5K category, Jobert Carolino emerged the fastest with a 21:03.05 clocking followed by Jess Gonzaga (21:25), Joel Delposo (21:30.51), Jorry Ycong (22:00.61), and Neol Tillor (22:10.88).
The top five placers in the distaff side were Joery Lee (22:30.31), Leonora Martus (24:40.50), Estrebelle Torsino ( 26:17.10), Victoria Bauman (27:30.81), and Catrina Martirez (28:30.39).
Tristan Paradilla ruled the boys 3K Fun Run in 13 minutes and 44 seconds, while Christine Anne Dominique took the girls crown in 21 minutes and 33 seconds.
In the kiddie dash, Diomedes Capul won the 100m race in 12.94 seconds, while Patrick Lauron took the 200m title in 18.37 seconds.
Proceeds of the fund-raising event will be donated to the earthquake and tsunami victims in Japan.— (FREEMAN)
