CEBU, Philippines - All roads lead to the South Road Properties on May 14-21 for a gathering of exciting sports and social events for athletes and sports fans alike dubbed as Cebu Sports Festival 2011. There is something in store for everyone whether a competitor, an avid fan or a plain spectator.
Now on its second year, the week-long affair aims to bring in a crowd like no other in Cebu. Headed to be the next big thing after Sinulog, the multi-sport gathering is set to be an annual undertaking for sports enthusiasts not only in Cebu but across the country and all over the world.
Last May 2010, the inaugural Cebu Sports Fest featured a diverse and exciting lineup of activities including sports events such as motocross, drag Race, flag football, softball, baseball, rugby, ultimate fritzbee, soccer, boxing, Mixed Martial Arts and sundown marathon.
Social events such as nightly variety shows and concerts, night bazaars, food bazaars, an auto show and carnival were also held.
Cebu was also proud to have made it to the Guinness Book of World Records for the most number of rockets (fireworks) fired in one time at the finale of the Cebu Sports Fest 2010.
This year, with much fervor, the Cebu Sports Festival is geared up to be bigger and better with the inclusion of water sports like wakeboarding, kitesurfing, windsurfing, kayak racing and a jet ski competition.
The rest of the sporting spectacles include the national airsoft mil sim competition, the 2nd Cebu disaster rescue off-road challenge, and an RC joust.
There will also be a barangay dancesport, taekwondo, beach volleyball and rock climbing among others.
Spicing up the much-awaited extravaganza are a bazaar for the entire family, an auto show, a carnival, concerts and the grand fireworks. (PR)
