SCSIT, Ave Maria beat foes in CBA out-of-town sortie

CEBU, Philippines - The Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology (SCSIT) Skyblazers and Ave Maria Sanctuary Park topped separate rivals in the first out-of-town match of the 1st M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu Basketball Association (MLKP-CBA) season at the Medellin Sports Complex.

The Skyblazers kept their guns ablaze from the field to subdue the upset-seeking Talisay City, 75-69, while Ave Maria nearly paid dearly for not putting up good defense in the crucial stretch in a 91-90 cliffhanger

over the Asian College of Technology (ACT) Cyber Knights.

Ronan Isidro sizzled with 29 points, while Elvis Labares sank 19 markers as SCSIT extended its winning streak to six games in a row.

Yester Daculan had 15 points and Roland Doy added 10 markers for the Skyblazers, who had only five players scoring.

Aletroy Mercader had 20 points for Talisay, which fell to 2-4.

In the other game, ex-pro Jercules Tangkay scattered 19 points as Ave Maria remained at solo second place with a 5-1 win-loss slate.

The Cyber Knights, who suffered their fourth loss in seven games, were led by Milfred Sampelo with 21 points followed by Bernie Ursal with 16.
