CEBU, Philippines - Cebu’s Southwestern University (SWU) Lady Cobras will face the University of St. La Salle (USLS)-Bacolod in the quarterfinals of the Shakey’s V-League today at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan City, Metro Manila.
The Jordan Paca-mentored SWU needs a victory over USLS to improve its chances of entering the semifinals as they already secured one win over Far Eastern University (FEU).
SWU athletic director Ryan Aznar said that the reigning Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) back-to-back champions had a registered win as their triumph against FEU during the elimination phase was carried over to the quarterfinals.
“We already have an automatic one win in the record since our standing in the elimination round was carried over in the quarterfinals. We will no longer clash against FEU since we defeated them already in the preliminary matches,” said Aznar.
SWU will bank on its stalwarts Princess Anne Pido, Danika Gendrauli, Danalie Baquiro, Raphril Aguilar, Fritzie Aligway, and Lorie May Layno. They can also lean on reinforcements Erika Camille Verano of the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) and Kenneth Garces.
They will face next the equally-tough National University. (FREEMAN NEWS)
