CEVA sets meeting to pick PNG team

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Volleyball Association (CEVA) plans to bring the best squads of the Queen City of the South to represent the province in the POC-PSC Philippine National Games slated on May 23-29 at the University of St. La Salle (USLS) in Bacolod City.

The Philippine Volleyball Federation-organized national event features men and women indoor volleyball and beach volley events.

CEVA president Jun San Juan said that they would love to bring the best of Cebu for this revived sporting event.

The CEVA officers will have a meeting tomorrow to discuss important matters regarding the upcoming sporting event.

Part of the agenda would be the players that will compose the Cebu team. They are to decide if they will be bringing the Governor Gwen Garcia Unity Volleyball (GUV) Cup selection or the selection of champion teams in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI).

San Juan said that the back-to-back CESAFI women’s champs, Southwestern University (SWU) Lady Cobras is interested of the slot as relayed by SWU athletic director Ryan Aznar.

“Of course we would love to bring the best of Cebu since they will be competing with the best teams in the country. But we still need to discuss these things on Wednesday to finalize everything along with the CEVA officers,” said San Juan.

The top four finishers in each division shall receive a trophy and certificates will be given for the mythical team selection.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
