CEBU, Philippines - The Queen City of the South’s Little League Baseball squad scored back-to-back victories to lead the group A of their division in this year’s Little League Philippine Series in Lipa City.
After an impressive 19-8 victory against Cavite, Cebu City earned a no-sweat win against Camarines Norte to post 2 wins and no loss in Little League Baseball’s (LLB) group A.
Cebu City will be facing Tanauan next.
Other teams under group A are Batangas, Cavite, Ragay, Talisay and Bacolod.
Among all the divisions featured in this event, the LLB has the most number of entries that organizers decided to group them into four with most of the groups having eight teams each.
While Cebu City’s LLB bets earned another win, its senior girls lost to the International Little League Association of Manila (ILLAM), 2-10.
ILLAM posted a 4-0 lead against Cebu City before it was suspended the other night after three innings as the field was already dark.
Cebu City regained some strength, but was not enough to overcome its deficit against ILLAM with the latter getting fiercer.
After ILLAM, Cebu City was scheduled to play against Cavite late in the afternoon and is set to face Bulacan this morning.
Cebu City’s third team, the Little League Softball was also scheduled to play against Muntinlupa yesterday afternoon but the result of the game was not available as of presstime.
The young softbelles are also expected to post a back-to-back victories following behind a 10-0 triumph against Rizal.
