Echavez sizzles in Cebu leg of NAGT Series

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu’s pride Lorhiz Echavez scored back-to-back victories through the Cebu leg of 2011 SPEEDO National Age Group Triathlon Series yesterday at the Plantation Bay Resort and Spa.

After ruling the Davao action, Echavez nailed another convincing win under the female 20-29 class.

Echavez finished the race in two hours, 9 minutes and 41 seconds in the official time released by the organizing Triathlon Association of the Philippines facilitated by the Danao City Sports Commision.

Echavez was a bit worried when two female entries came in ahead of her going into the running discipline covering 7.5-kilometers, but instead of complaining she continued to pursue her goal and succeeded.

Little-known Ylng-ylang Jordan came out second in 2:51.52 while Archie Jane Margen was third with the time of 2:51.57.

In the 30-39 class, Tricia Chiongbian-Concepcion ruled, while Merly Colmenares posted back-to-back wins in the 40-above category. Samantha Frances Tiro dominated the 16-under division done under a sprint distance.

In the men’s action,the likes of Ralph Arche, Elmo Clarabal and Noy Jopson finished first in their respective categories.

Arche’s hardwork paid off well as he grabbed the 25-29 category crown, while Clarabal got the 30-34 class and Jopson was first in the 35-39 category.

The other category winners were Rene Concepcion (40-44), Junki Flores (45-49), Douglas Sharpe (50-54), Wayne Macdousall (55-59), Nigel Short (60-above), Gavin Giani Solijon (16-under) and Kristiane Glendale Lim (20-24). –(FREEMAN)
