All set for Bantayan Beach Games in Holy Week

CEBU, Philippines - It's all systems go for the biggest beach-related, multi-sport event in Bantayan Island, the Bantayan Beach Games on April 19 to 23 at Sugar Beach Resort in Sta. Fe.

The event features five sporting discplines in triathlon, cycling, swimming, aquathlon, beach volleyball and beach soccer.

Triathlon will kick-off the week-long spectacle on April 20 with the standard and sprint races followed by the cycling competition on the 21st covering a total of 14-kilometers of individual time trial.

On April 22 will be the marathon swimming covering a total of five kilometers and the 1.5K fun swim, while the aquathlon, dubbed as the oceanman, will be on the 23rd with the 200m run and 200m swim covering four loops.

Beach volleyl and soccer will run from April 20 to 23.

The Sports, Adventure and Travel Services in cooperation with Sugbu Triathlon decided to include beach volley and soccer as part of Cebu’s preparation for its possible hosting of the 2013 Asian Beach Games.

Bantayan Island has been considered earlier by Philippine Sports Commission chairman Richie Garcia to be one of the venues of the 2013 ABG.

Cash prizes will be given away to the top performers of the different events except for the oceanman.
