SCSIT, Ave Maria eye win no.3 in CBA cage tourney

- GGM -

CEBU, Philippines - Co-leaders Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology (SCSIT) Skyblazers and the Ave Maria Sanctuary Park try to extend their unbeaten records when they take on separate rivals in today's resumption of the 1st M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu Basketball Association (MLKP-CBA) season at the USC-Main gym.

The Jimwell Torion-led Skyblazers stake their 2-0 slate against the 1-1 Hotel Fortuna in the first game at 4 pm.

By all means, the Skyblazers have the better offensive arsenals compared to Hotel Fortuna as they have a dominant center in 6-foot-8 Rino Berame and a veteran floor leader in Mark Abadia.

The ragtag Hoteliers, for their part, are bannered by the ex-SWU Cobras who can only promise speed and quickness as their main weapons.

But now that they have acquired veteran center Marlon Basco from the MLKP-Cebu Niños dispersal draft last week, they could now be considered a legitimate contender.

The Skyblazers can also rely on Jayford Rodriguez, Joseph Guangco, Ronan Iisidro, Leodie Garcia and Elvis Labares among others.

Coach Pablo Yu's Hoteliers can also count on Aard Evan Diango, Ritchie Jalandoni, Clefford Maguate, Jefferson Pria, Cris Litorja, Gilbert Gallarde and Mark Maniigque.

Meanwhile, Ave Maria has every reason to win with their superior lineup compared to Talisay.

Led by ex-pro Jercules Tangkay, Ave Maria's formidable crew also includes Ope Abellana, Danny Aying, Jerry Cavan, Alex Cainglet, Manny Gabas, Enrico Llanto and Aldrin Ocañada. (FREEMAN)
