SCSIT guns for second victory in CBA caging

CEBU, Philippines - The Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology (SC-SIT) Skyblazers shoot for a tie of the top spot now held by Ave Maria Sanctuary Park when they test the mettle of the Wealthbank-sponsored Talisay City today in the resumption of the 1st M.Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu Basketball Association (MLKP-CBA) season at the USC-Main gym.

In the nightcap, Hotel Fortuna hopes to bounce back from its 67-78 loss to the Asian College of Technology (ACT) Cyber Knights when it goes up against the winless Mandaue City-Cebu Landmasters.

The Skyblazers served notice of their entry when they debuted with a 104-96 victory over the Landmasters, sending the latter to their second straight defeat.

As expected, the Skyblazers of coach Jojo Romarate will be banking on his top wards led by the tandem of ex-pro Jimwell Torion and Mark Abadia, even as 6-foot-8 center Rino Berame will assert his dominance at the paint.

Meanwhile, now that Hotel Fortuna coach Pablo Yu got the player he wanted to be in his lineup, they could now count on Marlon Basco.

Team owner Lorenzo "Chao" Sy said they acquired Basco the other day when six former players from MLKP-Cebu Niños were raffled to each of the CBA participating teams and Hotel Fortuna proved to be the luckiest beneficiary because they have been in search for a center since the tournament began.

The Hoteliers will also rely on some of the SWU Cobras crew led by pointguard Aard Evan Diango, while the Landmasters will be bannered by Frangel Omolon, Kelvin Juliane and Jared Kane Abatayo among others.()
