CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Volleyball Association (CEVA)-organized Extensive-Governor Gwen Garcia Unity Volleyball (E-GUV) will have its third phase today in Carmen, Cebu .

Close to 500 trained participants were already gathered by the E-GUV program after the first two clusters in Dalaguete and Ronda. CEVA is expecting more participant as E-GUV will go to Carmen for the two-day seminar and training.

The participating cities and municipalities include Tabogon, Borbon, Sogod, Catmon, Carmen, Compostela, Liloan, Consolacion, Cordova, Danao City, Mandaue City and Lapu-Lapu City.

“So far, the staging of the first two clusters were successful. After the training, we hope that each Local Government Unit will implement their perspective volleyball training programs and that the Department of Education will institute volleyball into a more enhanced sports program,” said E-GUV author and CEVA co-chairman Glenn Anthony Soco.

CEVA tapped reliable, experienced and well-trained key speakers and trainers for this endeavor as part of their preparation to fulfill the pronouncement given by Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) president Gener Dungo to make Cebu as the volleyball capital of the country.

“We’re still in the second cluster. We're going to continue until all the clusters will be done. After that, we will have the post monitoring on the development of the program in each LGU. So far, the feedback has been very convincing,” said Soco.

After Carmen, E-GUV will have its next stops in San Remigio, Bantayan and San Francisco, Camotes. (FREEMAN)
