CEBU, Philippines - University of the Visayas’ Mae Villagonzalo seized the lead after round two of the 2011 World Youth Scrabble Championship (WYSC) Visayas qualifying yesterday at the UV quadrangle.
Villagonzalo garnered two wins with +438 spread followed by Nathalie Cabaluna of the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) with two wins and +325 spread.
Whawie Kent Abacajan of UV occupied the third spot with identical wins and +258 spread.
Two slots for the Philippine Youth team are at stake in the tournament plus some cash for the top five finishers.
Meanwhile, in the UV Scrabble Challenge 2011, the country’s top player Engr. Teodoro Martus Jr. took the top post with two wins and +366 spread as of round two. (FREEMAN)
