SHS-AdC, USC North start hot in MLKP hoopla

CEBU, Philippines - Opening day of the ML Kwarta Padala Cup 2011 saw the different Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu and University of San Carlos (USC) North age group teams go undefeated with a total of eight wins between themselves.

SHS-AdC scored five wins in the three age groups, defeating USC-South-A, 27-21, in a B-Meg 10-Under Division game.

The Magis Eagles teams in both the 13-Under Divisions A and B also posted contrasting wins. The SHS-AdC Team A outscored USC South-A, 40-25, in a rematch of the Milo BEST SBP Finals game, while SHS-AdC-B nipped USJR-B, 30-29, in a 13-Under Division B game.

In the 16-Under Division A, the Magis Eagles overcame USC South-A, 52-43, while its Team B came from behind to beat USC South-B, 53-47 in a 16-Under Division B game.

USC North went three-for-three, overcoming an upset-conscious University of the Visayas (UV) side, 41-30, in a 13-Under Division A game. USC North-B beat USC South-B, 23-17 in a 13-Under Division B game, while USC North’s Team B got back at previous tormentors Springdale, 50-46, in a 16-Under Division B game.

In other B-Meg 10-Under division games, Cebu Eastern College (CEC) topped USC South-B, 23-11.

In the 13-Under Division A, USJ-R won over CEC, 32-24, while in the 13-Under Division B, CIT-U routed St. Paul Learning Center, 50-12, in a game between rookie teams.

In other 16-Under division games, CEC topped UV, 55-46, while Marianne Childhood Education Center (MCEC) defeated Centre for International Education (CIE), 30-24.

The ML Kwarta Padala Cup 2011 is organized by the Cebu Youth Basketball League and is backed by B-Meg. Minor sponsor is Ave Maria Sanctuary Park. (PR)(FREEMAN)
