8th Thirsty cup footballfest SRFC, USPF, USC grab titles

CEBU, Philippines - San Roque Football Club may have missed the first title at stake in the 8th Thirsty Cup football tournament but still have something to brag about after it claimed the players 6 crown at the Cebu City Sports Center yesterday.

The young SRFC booters pulled off a 3-0 whitewash of Bright Minds to rule the players 6 category of the three-day tilt.

More to it, SRFC’s Lancelot Marco Colina, only three years old, earned the admiration of everyone on the way to romp off with the coveted MVP award.

Last Friday night, SRFC could only place second to Ateneo de Cebu in the girls 12 division.

Actually, Ateneo de Cebu, SRFC and Subangdaku figured in a triple tie with similar 12 points but Ateneo took the top honors by virtue of a superior goal difference.

On the other hand, the University of Southern Philippines Foundation captured the boys 19 title, thanks to the huge blunder of University of San Carlos’ Adelson Arrizabal who scored in their own goal.

USC though bounced back right away by beating Prossimo Football Club to lord it over in the girls 19 class. (FREEMAN)
