CEBU, Philippines - Gabriel Yap, Jr. led the winners of the January Monthly Medal played at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club last Saturday.
Yap fired nines of 35 and 38 for a total of one-over-par 73 strokes to win the lowest gross honors for the premiere handicap category.
The lowest net plum for class A went to Henry Chu with a net score of 66 off a gross 77. Runner-up honors went to Alex Yeo with a net score of 68 after edging Masahisa Kawakami, Jufil Sato, and Enrico Solon in the countback.
The lowest gross honors for class B went to Jun Zambo with six-over-par 78 strokes. The lowest net trophy was won by Emelio Tan with 63 strokes while runner-up honors went to Takeshi Kon with 67.
Ken Robinson fired 85 strokes to bag the lowest gross honors for class C while Francis Walter Ong shot a tournament-best net score of 59 strokes off a gross 95 to take the lowest net title. Runner-up honors went to Jimmy Tee with 66 strokes.
The seniors’ lowest gross title went to Hospicio ‘Razy’ Razon with 77 strokes. The lowest net plum went to Democrito ‘Jun’ Mendoza, Jr. with 63 strokes while club director Vicente Go took the runner-up honors with a net score of 65.
Emy Lou Tan had the lowest gross among the ladies with 86 strokes while Angela Park had the lowest net with 74.
Ted Almario once again ruled the guest division with a net score of 71 strokes in the Callaway System. Runner-up honors went to Saturo Hara with a net score of 73 edging Manolito Fajardo in the countback.—NLQ (FREEMAN)
