CEBU, Philippines - Several sporting events have been lined up to add glitz and glamour to Dalaguete's 300th founding anniversary next month. These include a fun run, basketball, motocross and boxing.

The Tri-Centennial Fun Run kicks off on February 6 at the Dalaguete Plaza featuring the 3K, 5K and 10K categories for the men's and women’s open, inter-town, all-Dalaguete residents, students and LGU members.

The organizers decided to include a separate category for LGU to encourage all local government officials and employees to join the event as part of their physical fitness program.

Registration fee is pegged at P300, which include free transportation from Cebu to Dalaguete and back, free breakfast and entrance to Obong Spring for out-of-town entries. Entry forms are available at Runnr-Ayala Center and at the Cebu City Sports Center.

For other inquiries, one may call Ging Zambrano at 484-8500 loc. 212 or Mario Montenegro at 0922-8337228.

Motocross, on the other hand, will take place on February 13 dubbed as the '1st Mayor Ronald Sesante Cup.'

Schedules for boxing and the 1st Congressman Pablo P. Garcia Inter-Town Basketball Tournament are yet to be finalized.

“This is one way of strengthening our local family ties, to give our balikbayans a chance to renew their relationship with the community, promote a healthy lifestyle and most specially showcasing to our out-of-town runners what Dalaguete has to offer,” said Zambrano.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
