CEBU, Philippines - The University of Cebu (UC)-manned Cebu Blue Marlins Swimming Club will plunge into action for the first time this year through the 4th Iloilo Dinagyang National Age-group Swimfest at the Iloilo Sports Complex on January 21 and 22.
Coach Rolando Alvarez was supposed to field in 25 bets but due to budget constraints, he had to cut his entries to 18.
Those who made the final cut were UC’s Clarence Israel Gabunada, Anthony Rey Dela Peña, Danre John Lumapas, Bethmay Arellano, Danielle Mae Ballesteros, Trina Cañeda, Cristine Indaya, Paula Abigail Vega, Mary Arlette Baller and Aimee Sanchez.
The UC squad will be reinforced with other CBM mainstays including the Navarro siblings - Anthony, Anthony Linn and Lyh Ann of Cebu Eastern College, the University of San Carlos’ Tristan Kirk Ebon and Razel Cabajar, Labangon’s Joebert and Karen Mae Indaya, and FBC Christian School’s Michael Ichiro Kong.
The Cebuanos will vie for no less than the overall supremacy after missing the event for two years now. They are set to compete against the Biniyaran Tadpoles of Antique, Aklan Aqua Blades, Capiz Eagelerays, Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club, Bohol Dolphins, and the Sea Warriors. - THE FREEMAN
