16 fighters to see action in URCC-Cebu 6 at the CICC
CEBU, Philippines - Sixteen fighters will be featured tonight in the sixth installment of the Universal Reality Combat Championship at the Cebu International Convention Center in Mandaue City.
Tonight’s main event will be the battle between Cary “The Prince” Bullos and former Visayan bantamweight champion Leonard Delarmino.
Bullos, regarded as one of Cebu’s best mixed martial artists has been in a hiatus for almost two years and hopes to use this bout as a springboard for a comeback.
He won his first four bouts in URCC, but lost his last to Lino Tagacay almost two years ago.
His two-year absence, however, had nothing to do about his last loss, but more on health concerns that have forced him out of the limelight. Now in the pink of health, Bullos has much to gain in terms of confidence if he wins tonight’s battle.
He, however, missed yesterday’s press conference as he had to work on shedding two more pounds to meet the maximum allowed 139 lbs. for the bantamweight class.
URCC founder Alvin Aguilar explained that a fighter can still fight despite not meeting the weight limit if the opponent agrees to it. The overweight fighter will also be slapped a monetary fine.
If Bullos would not meet the weight, he will not win the title even if he wins the match, said Renault Lao, the producer of URCC-Cebu.
“Arrangement by both camps is if Leonard Delarmino wins, he will get the belt, but if Cary wins, he will not get the belt.”
Delarmino said that despite the eight problems of Bullos, he is not under estimating his opponent’s ability.
Delarmino was stripped of his title after breaching his contract with URCC. He is given a chance to fight again of which in return, he pledges to abide by the rules this time and show to the rest he is worthy to be respected.
Another main feature tonight pits Ricardo Sapno against Tom Woodfin while George Flansbaum debuts against the undefeated Jimmy Yabo.
Aside from the three main events, there are five other bouts featured in this Colt 45-presented event that has two other Visayas belts at stake.
Flyweight champion Maxlito Yong of Yawyan-Musang meets Agustin
Delarmino of Team Capanay and pinweight champion Victor Torre of Deftac-Bacolod goes up against Mark Revalde of Yawyan-Ardigma.
Pinweight Limbas Noble Franca tackles Jessie Tambiling, Philip Delarmino goes opposite Jhon Edu Torbiso, and Lorde Rey Yamit faces Vaugh Donaire.
Aside from money and fame, also at stake tonight is a chance to be part of the RP elite team. (FREEMAN)
