Southern Junior Classic tees off today

- Nimrod NL Quiñones -

CEBU, Philippines - The 8th Southern Junior Classic tees off today at the Cebu Country Club with a field limited to 100 players.

This two-day event is organized by the Junior Golf Committee of CCC headed by lawyer Jovi Neri.

There will be six categories to be contested – the Special Division for those 18 to 23 years old, A (15-17), B (13-14), C (11-12), D (9-10), and E (6-8).

Competitions for all categories except for class E would be two rounds of 18 holes. The youngest group will only play nine holes per day.

There will be the boys and girls’ divisions for all age categories.

Since there are more participants in the boys’ class, prizes will go to the top three based on their gross scores. For the distaff side it will be for the top two.

The entry fee for the event is pegged at P1,000. This entitles the player to giveaways, raffles, and a free round for practice yesterday.

The event is mainly backed by Red Golf.

Expected to participate will be players from Alta Vista Golf and Country Club and Mactan Island Golf Club aside from the hosts for the Cebu teams.

Also set to take part will be players from Del Monte Golf Club of Bukidnon, Pueblo de Oro Golf and Country Club of Cagayan de Oro, Iloilo Golf Club, and others from Mindanao and Luzon. (THE FREEMAN)
