CEBU, Philippines - Cebuano disciples of the classic European boardgame will test each other's wits and mental power in the Rose Pharmacy Chess King 2010 starting at 10 am today at the Colonnade Chess Club.
The 7-round Swiss system competition will surely draw Cebu's top pawnpushers considering the huge bounty at stake for the winners.
The champion will go home P7,000 richer, while the second and third placers will pocket P5,000 and P3,000, respectively. The fourth and fifth will receive P2,000 and P1,000, while the sixth to 10th will get a consolation prize of P500 each.
In the event of a tie, either the direct encounter, Bucholz, Median Bucholz or the progressive scoring system shall be applied.
