'Fun' golf
Members and guests, who play in the major tournaments – The View Invitational and the Christmas Fun Golf, at Alta Vista Golf and Country Club have been given one more incentive to win. This is not an additional prize, but the specially-crafted plaques bearing an image of the clubhouse that has been cast in bronze.
The tournament committee decided to come up with an award that is exclusive to the club to make the two events even more prestigious.
The supplier is local, an export firm that is looking for opportunities in the country.
Since winning the plaque seems quite a tough task to accomplish, I asked somebody to check if the supplier would be willing to make one that just says this guy is a member of the club. It’s something worth hanging on your wall.
Many, however, hope to have one that says champion or even runner-up, but we’ll have to wait for at least six more months before we get a shot at that in the club’s annual member-guest event late May or early June 2011.

We were drenched last Saturday morning during the first day of AVGCC’s Christmas Fun Golf Classic.
Despite the ten-minute delay in the tee off as it was still too dark during the original 5:20 a.m. schedule, there wasn’t enough daylight when my flightmates – club chairman Oly Dychangco and club treasurer Ramon Sebastian, hit our drives.
After an uneventful front nine (referring to the weather only), the rain gave us a good reason to play bad in the back nine.
I am still trying to figure out how come the word “fun” got inserted into the tournament name. Maybe it’s because we can always laugh at our mistakes and make up for what we did bad on the course in the raffles.

The Christmas celebration of the Cebu Amateur Football Club (CAFC) will be held on December 22 (Wednesday) starting at 5 p.m. at the soccer field of Ricky Dakay in Sudlon, Lahug.
Like in the past, the grudge match between teams A and B of the club will be played and there would be fun and games afterwards.
Club members are advised to bring P400 as the annual club dues as well as two pieces of 2x2 ID pictures.
I’ll see you guys next week then, but I’ll have to enjoy the game from the sidelines due to the injury that has put an end to my football playing days. Maybe a miracle can make me play again, but that might be asking too much hehehe…
The CAFC is headed by Engr. Glenn Quisido and is composed of players from various professions.
It’s a fun group to be with.
