Tabal tops Run to the Power of 3

- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -

CEBU, Philippines – Mary Joy Tabal posted back-to-back victories after ruling the Run to the Power of 3 at the Cebu International Convention Center yesterday.

This came a day after dominating the 12-K 1st Frankie Radaza Run in Lapu-Lapu City.

Yesterday's race was a 10-K event presented by San Miguel Corporation.

Tabal defeated Madelyn Carter for the top spot while Mereiz Ramirez came third.

In the premiere men's action, John Philip Duenas, who Tabal considers as her trainor at Southwestern University, also took the top spot.

Duenas defeated Mendel Lopez for the P10,000 cash prize at stake for the fastest runner in the 10-K action.

Jobert Carolino, for his part, wound up third.

With most of the seasoned runners joining the Buddha Light International Association (BLIA)-Cebu Chapter-organized event, this year's Red Cross Run for Humanity at Ayala Center-Cebu's Terraces saw two little-known runners Jhean Andrin and Sofie Laumann coming up with a 1-2 finish in the women's 10-k action.

One of Cebu's former top female road runners, Merlita Arias-Dunkin wound up at third place. Rosemarie Adlawan and Camila Luterte placed fourth and fifth respectively.

In the men's side, it was Jess Gonzaga who got the first place honors with Ian Bernido placing second and Adonis Singson at third spot.

In the 5-k action, Riez Enriquez ruled the men's division over Robert Daang while May Jeameka Tenio reigned in the distaff side.

The 3-K run saw Mark Lee Lucero finish on top of the boys' class and Kisha Mae Delechos ruled the girls' division. (FREEMAN)
