SWU belles raring to defend title in 'new' PRISAA Meet

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu’s bet Southwestern University (SWU) Lady Cobras are all set to defend their crown in the women's volleyball event of the Regional Collegiate Games (formely the Private Schools Athletic Association Regional Meet), which will kick off tomorrow at the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) gym in Brgy. Lahug, this city.

The regional qualifying will showcase four teams, one from Bohol represented by the University of Bohol (UB), two from Dumaguete - Foundation University (FU) and Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) - and SWU.

SWU team captain Danika Yolanda Gendrauli said they’ve been preparing for months in a bid to retain their title especially that the're showing their stuff before hometown fans.

“Winning the Nationals will always be the team’s target," Gendrauli said.

With a new coach this year in Jordan Paca, SWU's chance of claiming back-to-back championships is bright as Paca worked doubly hard in improving all facet of their game as well as their jelling as a team. (THE FREEMAN)
