CEBU, Philippines - Five members of the Cebu Blue Marlins Swimming Club are all set for action in the National G-League Age Group Swimming Championship this Friday at Trace Aqua Sports Center in Los Baños, Laguna.
The CBM bets will have to contend against 70 teams all over the country with over 500 swimmers taking part in the three-day event.
CBM coach Rolando Alvarez said they will field in only five athletes due to financial constraints.
The Navarro siblings Anthony Linn and Lyh Ann of Cebu Eastern College will strut their wares in the 12-under class.
Anthony Linn Navarro has been hailed as the outstanding swimmer last year in the 11-under bracket. This time, he will face a tougher challenge against RP Youth top swimmer Mark Rominquit of Valleverde Aqua Lacer Swimming Club in the 400m freestyle, 200m backstroke and 200m individual medley.
On the other hand, Michael Ichiro Kong of FBC Christian School will vie for the 12-under boys title, while Aaaron Grant Embuscado of the University of San Carlos-North Campus and Beth May Arellano of the University of Cebu will try their luck in the 14-under category. (FREEMAN)
