Sta. Fe sweeps Cluster 4 titles in GUV Cup volleyball

CEBU, Philippines - Sta. Fe retained its respective titles in Cluster 4 of the Governor Gwen Garcia Unity Volleyball (GUV) Cup at the Bantayan Multi-Purpose gym.

In the men's division, the Sta. Fe spikers drubbed Bogo, 25-17, 25-18, behind the efforts of Jason Gabales, John Kyle Brigoli, Jade Illiut, Mark Vincent Giducos, Jason Illiut, Jobert Illustrisimo, the Pacinio brothers Christopher and Ernel and their imports Jonathan Clarus and Liendon Cabelino.

In the distaff side, the Sta. Fe belles overpowered Tabuelan, 25-17,25-18, courtesy of Southwestern University's (SWU) first stringers Danalie Baquiro, Mary Luilyn Pacinio, Ma. Christalie Picos and Rhea Loayon with a strong backing from Jerra Mae Pacinio and Hanna Mae Sevilla.

Tabuelan and Bogo though still secured quarterfinal tickets for taking the No. 2 spot in their brackets.

The champions went home with P20,000 each, while the runners-up pocketed P10,000.

The top two finishers in Cluster 4 will now be joining early quarterfinalists Alcoy, Moalboal, Talisay City, Minglanilla, Barili and Toledo in the men's class and Alcoy, Alegria, Talisay, Minglanilla, Barili and Tuburan in the women's division. (THE FREEMAN)
