2 Cebu City teams to regional boxfest

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City will be fielding two teams in the Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines (ABAP) Visayas Regional Championship on October 26 to 30 at the Mandaue Sports and Cultural Complex.

A total of 17 pugilists from the Omega Boxing Gym and the Cebu City Sports Center trainees made it to the final cut as TCC-Omega’s representatives.

Composing TCC-Omega Team A are medalists of the 2009 Smart/ABAP Boxing Championship in Ormoc. They are Ardie Boyose, Jack Tepora, Steven Noblefranca, Welmark Dignos, Jared Payao, Ronald Empic and Ramjess Colina along with new-comers Randy Pucdol, Danny Panit, Junnie Saloga-ol, and Jordan Catubay.

The Queen City of the South’s team B, on the other hand, will have National boxing bronze medalist Alil Ala along with Rommel Cruz, Klenn Tacura, Anthon Coral, Mary Kevin Soroño and Jay Molihon.

As part of TCC-Omega’s preparation, coach Efren Tabanas said that their wards will be fielded during the “Paboksing sa Barangay” at Pahina Central Sports Center on October 11. (THE FREEMAN)
