CEBU, Philippines - Another southern town is set to host a running event, with Boljoon staging the Omega Pain Killer Xtreme Challenge on November 7 at the well-known Boljoon Parish Church’s plaza.
The event will be divided into three race lengths, the 10K, 5K and 3K.
The 5K and 10K are open to all interested runners, while the 3K battle is exclusive for the Boljoanons.
“ We decided to have the 3K division exclusively for the Boljoanons because we want to encourage them to engage into this kind of sporting event which promotes a healthy lifestyle and to take part of the cause,” said project director Ronald Villanueva.
Registration fee for the 5K and 3K is pegged at P300 inclusive of a singlet and breakfast.
Registration forms will be available in first week of October at Runnr in Ayala, Philippine Sports Commission (PSC)-7 office at the Cebu City Sports Center and at the several tourism offices in the neighboring towns of Boljoon.
“We are asking the support of all sectors for this noble cause of ours,” Villanueva added.
Aside from running, Boljoon will also hold a 3-on-3 and an inter-town basketball tournament, tennis, football and boxing.
The series of sporting activities is part of the town’s annual fiesta celebration on November 12 and 13 in honor of its beloved patron saint Patrocinio de Maria. (THE FREEMAN)
