CEBU, Philippines – Isla Sugbo of team owner Oliver Seno sank Unilink Shipping, 76-67, to clinch the championship of the Power Ball President's Cup First Conference basketball tournament crown last Sunday at the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) gym.
With topgunnner Inting Reyes shackled by Unilink's stifling defense for almost the entire game and struggled with only six points, playing coach Boy Te turned to their mus-cleman Juanito Sasing at the paint where he earned a living to lead Isla Sugbo with 18 points.
Luckily for Isla Sugbo, Te's son Franco rose to the occasion and joined Sasing in the scoring fray to finish with 15 points. Bagtong Minoza added nine points, while center Joselito Ocampo chipped in seven points markers.
Unilink of team manager Paul Quinanola was led by its razzle-dazzle pointguard Danrey Baclay with 14 points.
