LTO zaps Philhealth, in ARENA hoopla

CEBU, Philippines - Defending champion Land Transportation Office (LTO) clobbered Philhealth, 100-85, in the Association of Regional Executives in National Agencies (ARENA-7) 2010 basketball tournament at the Central Command (CentCom) covered court in Brgy. Apas, this city.

Both teams fought on a level playing field at the start resulting into a 42-all deadlock at halftime.

LTO, however, waxed hot in the third period to take a 68-62 lead before finishing off its rivals with a powerful endgame kick.

Jun Ace Ursal topped LTO with 35 points, while Milfred Sampelo chipped in 23 markers.

 Ex-USPF Panthers Elvis Labares and Arletroy Mercader paced Philhealth with 30 and 16 points, respectively. Aris Jayme and Eric Relampagos connived for 22 markers in a losing effort. (THE FREEMAN)
