Heartfelt clinches no. 2 spot in FYA caging
CEBU, Philippines - Team Heartfelt of Grace Magsalay needed two crucial victories decided only by one point each game to claim the second spot, while the Park ‘N Go Bakeshop crushed CRV, 131-64, to settle for fourth place overall in the 2nd F. Llamas Youth Association (FYA) basketball tournament at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Gym in Brgy. Punta Princesa, this city.
Heartfelt pulled off a 80-79 squeaker over Kharoz and then made a Houdini escape against the Simpolang Barbekyuhan, 95-94, to finish the elimination round with a 4-3 win-loss record and more importantly, they earned a twice-to-beat advantage along with topseed Viking Haulers.
Meanwhile, Dexter Caballero led Park ‘N Go with 18 points even as five others scored in double figures in Park ‘N Go’s lopsided victory.
The semifinals will start next week after the FYA All-Star Games where rookies play against the sophomores and the veterans gop up against each other in the Light vs. Dark showdown.
The FYA is supervised by tournament director Boogie Atillo and Punta Princesa barangay councilor Ray Gabriel Salgado.
