CEBU, Philippines - After running mainly in the busy streets of Cebu and Mandaue City, Cebuano runners will get a chance to race under fresher air when the 1st West Cebu Industrial Park Association (WCIP) Balamban Fiesta Run unfolds on September 26 at the Balamban track oval.
So far, Balamban is the farthest place in the Cebu Province to host a running competition. Two weeks ago, Naga organized a running event, while Boljoon is planning to host one later this year.
The race lengths to be featured include the 10K, 5K and 3K.
Cash prizes and medals will be given away to the top three finishers in both men and women’s division.
Organizers will also hand out a special award for the most senior finisher in both categories.
Some lucky finishers will also get freebies from event sponsors that include Gatorade, Globe, Coca-Cola, Balamban Construction, Aboitizland, Runnr and City Savings Bank.
Registration forms are available at the CIPDI Office, Lorjon Building in Banilad and Balamban, Runnr at Ayala Center-Cebu, St.Francis of Assissi office or at the municipal hall of Balamban.
Early registration ends on September 18, while the deadline is on September 23.
Entry fee is pegged at P250 for the 10K and P200 for the 5K and 3K. Late registrants will have to pay an additional P50.
Refreshments and snacks will be provided for the participants after the race. (FREEMAN)
