2 share lead in Corn Tee

CEBU, Philippines – Two teams are tied for the lead after the entire field played its first round in the 2010 Corn Tee at the Club Filipino Incorporada de Cebu course in Pulangyuta, Danao City.

Scoring team totals of 162 points each were the teams led by Efren Palugod and tournament chairman Joselito 'Jiji' Gullas.

Palugod's pacesetting team was also composed of Allan Tuck, Bernie Manundan, and Jay Macapagal.

Each team shall be composed of one CFIC member and three guests. The tournament rules also allow a club member to have more than one team with the same first and second round scores to be reflected.

In the team with Gullas are Michael Go, George Tsai and Manolet Heredia.

Palugod's second team is one point back with a total of 161 points. The other members of the squad are Gary Lim, Lino Dagus, and Cesar Salimbangon.

Ed Aliño's team is three points further back with 158 points. His teammates are Roy Damole, Koko Holganza, and Gerry Quintos.

With 154 points is the team of Hospicio 'Razy' Razon, Boy Alegre, Felix Villanueva, and Marlo Cugtas.

One point behind them is the team of Julius Neri, Sr. that also included his son Jovi Neri, nephew Bayani Garcia and Gen Nagai.

Two teams are tied with 152 points each. These are that of Ronald Alfeche, Edwin Espina, Sim Guinocor and Rodante Joya and that of Ed Franco, Lino Mabatid, Fred Melgo, and Eryle Payos.

The Skygo motorcycle that has been put on the line for an eagle on a par-5 hole was won the other day by Ramon 'Dustin' Morada, who holed out in three strokes on hole number 15.

The last day of the tournament will be played today and the award rites will be held tonight at the Budyong Hall of Casino Filipino Mactan.

Also scoring eagles the other day, but not getting a share of the prize since they made it on par-4 holes were Ellie Espinoza on the 7th and Bayani Garcia on the 3rd.

At stake for an ace is P 1 million in the Monterrazas Challenge. This is on all par-3 holes. In case more than one player will make a hole-in-one as well as an eagle on a par-5 holes, the prizes will have to be equally shared.
