Cebu Blue Marlins shine in Tagbi swimfest
CEBU, Philippines – The Cebu Blue Marlins overshadowed eight other competing squads to rule the latest G-League Short Course Age-Group Swimming Championships at the Carlos P.Garcia Sports Complex in Tagbilaran City over the weekend.
The Cebu Blue Marlins of coach Rolando Alvarez posted a total of 2,314 points en route to clinch overall title.
Silliman University was a distant second with 691 points, while the Bohol Dolphins wound up third with 621 points.
Medal wise, CBM hauled a total of 72 golds, 38 silvers and 33 bronzes.
Anthony Linn Navarro powered CBM anew with eight golds, while his sister Lyh Ann contributed seven golds.
Ichiro Kong added more weight to CBM's bid with eight golds and a silver as Paula Abigail Vega and Noel Cañeda got five golds apiece.
The other medal (gold-silver-bronze) contributors for CBM were Tristan Kirk Ibon (1-4-3), Fritz Tamara (3-5-1), Gian Paolo Bagano (3-3-1), Anthony Rey de la Peña (1-3-1), Karen In-daya (4-0-0), Razel Cabajar(2-2-1), Beth Mae Arellano (3-1-2), Danielle Mae Ballesteros and Je Rose Rosada (1-1-0), Trina Cañeda (1-1-1), Cielo Osorio (3-0-0), Joyce Huguete (1-1-2) and Ro-mylyn Ignacio (2-3-0).
CBM also dominated the relay competition from the 11-12 up to the 15-above classes where they swept a total of 11 golds and a silver.
The other swimmers who spiced up CBM glorious campaign were Joebert Indaya, Clarence Israel Gabunada, Anthony Navarro II, Matthew Angelo Cañeda, Aaron Grant Embuscado, Joshua Rosada, Paolo Zosa, Dandre Lumapas, Pierre Niño Baguio, Michael David Vega, Aimee Sanchez Tara Kyla Ebon, Cristine Indaya and April Mhel Angelie Garcia.
