Sports shopping
After a very tense Monday monitoring the hostage crisis, I was looking forward to unwinding at the Aegean Room of Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino for the Rudy Project Inventory Sale.
But, when I got there, I remembered that shopping is also like a sport, those who are ahead get a chance at picking the best ones.
This annual sale, which has already been included in my budget, is a chance to buy the sporty outfits and accessories, which I tried to do, but many beat me to it.
The reason is probably many have also included this event in their annual family budget, but a more obvious reason is that there are now more people into fitness activities, which explained the brisk sale of bicycle helmets and biking shirts.
While this event may be seen as a pure economic enterprise, we might also want to look at it as one that spurs interest in fitness activities, but this still doesn't make shopping a sport.

Marko Sarmiento sent me email yesterday about the 6th Cheling Garcia Cup, which is happening this Saturday at the Cebu Country Club.
Cheling Garcia was a former president of the Cebu Country Club and Marko's grandfather.
The tournament started one year after Cheling Garcia's death with the family sponsoring one of the monthly medal tournaments.
This year, it is a stand alone event and only close friends, business partners and sponsors will be invited to play, said Marko.
Kiyofumi Takahashi, a very close friend of Marko, is the defending lowest gross champion.
This weekend, there is also the monthly medal of Alta Vista Golf and Country Club and on Friday is the PAS Golf Tournament also at Alta Vista.
It does look like a busy golfing weekend ahead.

This Friday is also a big day for the music buffs, particularly those who enjoy the music of the 70s and 80s as Bootleg Gold Live 3 takes place at Sandtrap along Ma. Luisa Road.
This is an event of Y101 FM, which is also very active in promoting various sports activities including golf.
I was told that many from the golfing community are going to the event, which I hope I can also take a peek at if my work schedule would permit.
