CEBU, Philippines - Mary Grace de los Santos claimed back-to-back titles in long distance running while a struggling Simon Losiaboi managed to win the men’s 21K in the inaugural staging of the Aboitiz Race to Reduce Challenge yesterday at the South Road Properties.
After dominating the IPI Pilipinas International 25K Run last week, De los Santos secured another half marathon crown via the Aboitiz event with the time of one hour and 23 minutes.
Madelyn Carter came out a distant second with the time of 1:40.40, while Mereeis Ramirez placed third in 1:43.06. The next two spots were occupied by Milagros Tanudtanod (1:55.07) and Melinda Ponce (1:55.57).
Completing the top 10 finishers were Emily Rosas, Karen Quiñanola, Donna Cruz-Larrazabal, Mary Ann Benedicto and Rachel Limtong.
In the men’s side, Losiaboi emerged as the fastest with the time of 1:13.03. Elmer Bartolo took the second place honors, while Sherin Managuil went away with the third place trophy in 1:16.03. Alvirg Busa wound up fourth in 1:16.31 and John Adrian Ouano landed fifth in 1:23.07.
Rounding up the top 10 placers were Mark Anthony Bergatin (1:23.58), Ramie Lawas (1:27.10), Paul James Zafico (1:27.10), Renz Gabuya(1:32.08), and Florante Ordeniza (1:37.49).
In the 10K action, Mary Joy Tabal topped the women's division with the time of 40:53, while Philip Duenas ruled the men's side. Jorry Ycong and Sheena Gacayan dominated the 5K class, while Errold Monica and Maria Monica lorded it over in the 3K category. (FREEMAN)
