Sales, Lim rule CESAFI Run
CEBU, Philippines - Southwestern University’s Clyde Sales and University of Cebu’s Lovely Lim lead the cast of the Cebu School Athletic Foundation’s Fun Run at the Cebu City Sports Center yesterday.
Before the auxiliary events of the CESAFI formally opens today, Sales dominated the men’s 5K action with the seasoned varsity runners opting to reserve their energies in the regular track and field event of the CESAFI and in other road races.
Sales finished the race in 20 minutes and 11.41 seconds over UC’s Irvin Borbon, who ended with the time of 20:50.11. University of San Jose-Recoletos’ Agapito Baclaan placed third with a 21:10.44 clocking.
In the distaff side, Lovely Lim took away the top spot in 31:21..44, with USJ-R taking away the 2-3 spots through Joy Japus in 32:56.11 and Marigold Panilag in 33:59.07.
In the 3K run, SWU posted a 1-2 finish through Ian and Allan Refuela while Remondito Bantiancilla landed third, while the girls side saw UC sweeping the top 3 seats through Joeylyn Suquib, Stephanie Morales and Hydell Sungahid.
After CESAFI’s action yesterday, two separate running events takes place today, the Aboitiz Race to Reduce Challenge at the South Reclamation Properties and the Silliman Run at the Ayala Center ’s Terraces.
And while it’s a busy weekend for running anew in Cebu, 20 other daring Cebuanos will be out to compete in this year’s 70.3 Ironman Philippines in Camarines Sur today.
The Cebuanos seeing action include the best placed Pinoy finisher in last year’s Ironman Noy Jopson along with doctor Team Reborn’s Raymund Reel Bontol, Jung Cases, Tenggoy Colmenares, Annie Neric and Joseph Miller along with Bro. Carlo Bacalla, Cleve Villanueva, Elmo Clarabal, Eugene Sanchez, Frederick Pahanonot, Gerrie Calinawan, Jose Ricardo Dizon, Kristian Cabahug, Ralph Francistino Arche, Ralph Martin Sios-e, Siegfred Zarex Tura and Trino Rey Trasmonte.
