Busy weekend for Cesafi

CEBU, Philippines – The weekend is expected to be a busy one for the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) as it launches two new events.

This Saturday, the Run for Cesafi: The 1st Cesafi Fun Run will commence at 4 am at Osmena Boulevard in front of the Cebu Normal University. The run will have distances of 5 kilo-meters, 3 K and a special 1 kilometer run for Cesafi officials and coaches.

Cash and special prizes await the participants of this event which Cesafi commissioner Felix Tiukinhoy says will bring "innovative change to the league."

The run is exclusive to students from all the Cesafi member schools.

All Cesafi athletes except the track and field varsity players, are encouraged to join. Registration fee is pegged at P20 and can be paid at the office of the athletic director of the dif-ferent schools.

The male and female winners in the 5k distance will get P3,000 each while runners-up will receive P2,500 and P2,000, respectively. The 3k distance winners will go home with P2,000 while the first and second runner-up will get P1,500 and P1,000. There will also be prizes for the "biggest delegation," the "sexiest runner" and "hunk runner."

Sunday will see the opening ceremonies of the sporting events which will be highlighted by the Mr. Cesafi pageant in both the juniors and seniors divisions.

The event will be at 9 am at the Cebu Coliseum. The winner of the pageant will be representing Cebu in the PRISAA competition. Entrance is free for this event. (FREEMAN)
