Litigators, Pecandela now 3-0 in IBP caging

CEBU, Philippines – The Litigators led by Atty. Flor Yosores and Pecandela Law Firm thrashed separate rivals to share the overall lead with clean 3-0 slates in the 5th Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) basketball tournament at the Capitol Parish Gym along Escario street, this city.

The Litigators drubbed the winless Iron Eagles, 76-64, behind the sizzling tandem of Bauzon twins - Richard and Edward and Lito Ortiz, who topscored with 18 points. The Bauzons both finished with 16 markers.

Rovelson Velmonte led the Iron Eagles with 26 points.

The Pecandela Law Firm, on the other hand, tamed the Bros. ‘N Law, 65-63.

After Estong Rama tied the game at 63-all with a booming triple, Jessie Capoy became the hero for Pecandela when he canned two crucial free throws in the final 2.9 seconds of the contest.

In the other games, defending champion Super Idols led by skipper Ramsey Quijano halted the two-game winning run of the Paneros, 63-60, while in the main match, Mt. Zion finally barged into the win column with a a 69-61 spanking of Young Lawyers Association of Cebu (YLAC).

Mario Gidayawan and Benjo Macion powered Mt. Zion with 15 and 14 points, respectively, even as Van Ligutan topped YLAC with 21 points. (FREEMAN)
