CEBU, Philippines - Ex-CIT Wildcat Joseph Guangco fired 29 points and skipper Robert Abasolo added 19 as Inayawan humiliated San Nicholas, 103-87, while Guadalupe went strong in the windup to shackle Pardo, 117-107, in the Conor Cup Invitational basketball tournament at the Mambaling Sports Complex.
After Inayawan ended the third period with an insurmountable 29-point lead, 63-34, San Nicolas staged a furious rally but the best it could muster was to pull within 11 points, 78-89, on Reyland Jumalon’s triple.
Jumalon, who had six triples, led San Nicolas with 22 points followed by Rene Toring with 21.
In the nightcap, Wilson Gabucan and skipper Alex Cainglet nailed one triple each in the dying seconds of the match to bail Guadalupe out of danger.
Arnel Gacho paced Guadalupe with 24 points, Gabucan finished with 24, while Cainglet had 20.
Pardo, playing without top gunner Vergel Abelong and veteran guard Raul Redulosa, was led by Ope Abellana with 25 points.
