CEBU, Philippines - Cebuano Luis Ansag will take a break from wrestling to take on another mission - joining the International Dragon Boat Federation’s 7th Club Crew World Championships at Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre in Macau, China tomorrow.
After posting an impressive victory over Alvin Aguilar, founder of the Universal Reality Combat Championships (URCC) in the country during the National Open Wrestling action last summer, Ansag will compete in his other favorite sport, dragonboat, under Team Pyros of the Philippines.
The multi-titled Ansag will be fielded in the men’s and mixed small boat 200-meter event.
The first assignment of Ansag and his teammates will be the premiere mixed 200m event where they are up against Hong Kong’s Way Young DBC, PLK Paddlers of Singapore, Macau and Brisbane River Dragons of Australia in heat 1.
Last year, Ansag and company ranked fifth overall.
Before shifting his focus to dragonboat again, Ansag was in Cebu to visit his family and relatives as well as train some potential wrestlers and mixed martial artists. (FREEMAN)
