CEBU, Philippines – Marko Sarmiento slipped past two many-time club champions last weekend to bag the lowest gross honors in the July Monthly Medal of Cebu Country Club.
Sarmiento fired nines of 35 and 38 for a total of one-over-par 73 strokes then edged Eric Deen and Carl Almario in the countback to win the crown.
The class A title went to Lor Alaan with a net score of 67 strokes off a gross score of 77. Alvin Alazas, also a former club champion, settled for the runner-up honors with a net score of 70 strokes off a gross 80 after edging Almario in the countback.
The class B title went to Ernesto Siguan, who had a net score of 67 off a gross 85. Andy Parrott carded a net 69 to take the runner-up honors after pulling past Frederic Chiongbian in the countback.
Jacinto Limyutian scored a net 68 to win the title for class C while runner-up honors went to Noel Ybañez, who fired a net score of 69.
Rhoudie Tiu has once again lorded it over in class D shooting a net score of 73 to win the title. Runner-up honors went to Ramon Escario with a net 75 after he edged Fruto Teodorico in the countback.
Pete Polo fired a net score of 71 strokes to win the title in the seniors' division. Runner-up honors went to Edgar Chiongbian with a net score of 73 strokes. Chiongbian won the award after pulling past Joseph Yukayguan in the countback.
The guest division title went to Ian Crystal with a net score of 72 strokes off a gross of 90. Runner-up honors went to Razi Razon with a net score of 73 edging Edino Yap in the countback.
