RPower sizzles in regional tikefest

CEBU, Philippines – RPower Taekwondo Club bagged 13 golds in the 2010 Regional Taekwondo Championships at the Cebu City Sports Center over the weekend.

Lord Jay Guia took the senior men advance finweight title after overpowering Mohammad Baguio of Airforce 1.

Four RPower taekwondo jocks reigned supreme in the junior men advance. Bon Nico Quijano trounced Eric Garces (finweight), John Paul Tomarse fended off Edward Plantar (flyweight), John Loi Gara beat Jefferson Louie Callino (bantamweight) and Eisu Dominic Tumampos prevailed over Rodrigo Alonzo (light welterweight).

In the distaff side, Charisse Labiste outclassed Jhan Raphael Albero for the finweight title, while Hannah Niña Guia (fly bantamweight) and Kayla Beldad (middleweight) defeated Jessa Liberty Callino and Louise Gabrielle Romano, respectively.

The rest of RPower’s gold medalists were Archie Tejas, James Louie Callino and Khylle John Flores for the children boys advance category and Charles Lawrence Labiste and Janjay Brillantes in the novice division.

The winners will automatically represent the region to the National Taekwondo Championships this August at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila. (THE FREEMAN)
